At 720Connects, We All Dance to the Beat of Our Own Drum !
Meet Our Founding Director & Board President
Veteran Special Educator, Author, Song Writer, Certified Professional Coach, Mother of four, and Grandmother of seven, Ms. Janice V. Allamby has been empowering children, teens and young adults all ages to become the greatest version of themselves for four decades.
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from The City College of New York, her Master of Science in Special Education, and her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Bank Street College of Education’s Principal’s Institute Graduate School, Ms. Allamby has spent over 22 years educating students with special needs. Currently she is the Director of 720Connects, Inc. and the Founder and CEO of JLN Enterprising LLC. She founded JLN Enterprising after she realized the lack of job opportunities her graduating seniors were unable to attain.
Ms. Allamby’s graduating High School seniors identify as having an intellectual disability with an IQ score of below 70%. The disparities in employment, competitive salary, career-oriented professions, career development, have thwarted 98% of Ms. Allamby’s graduating seniors from utilizing the internship skills they learned in class. Consequently, the non-accredited high school certificate that her students received upon graduation, provides no access to employment in today’s job market.
98% of Ms. Allamby's graduates struggle to maintain an independent lifestyle post-graduation and remain at home with few opportunities to grow beyond their high school experience. With nearly two-thirds of the 60 million Americans with disabilities who desire to work, yet only a third participate in the labor force, the gap in employment opportunities and labor participation has long existed between those living with disabilities and those living without disabilities. The vision for 720Connects is to reduce this gap by providing working adults with intellectual disabilities employment opportunities that secure financial freedom .
